How to Read the Results

Suggested Concrete Order

The main result is labeled Suggested concrete order. It includes the waste allowance selected in the form.

With Imperial / US units, the suggested order is displayed in cubic yards. With Metric units, it is displayed in cubic meters.

This is the primary quantity to review when discussing an order with a ready-mix supplier. The quantity you can purchase may be affected by supplier minimums and ordering increments.

Calculated Volume

The Calculated volume result shows the geometric volume before waste is added. It is calculated from the dimensions and the number of identical slabs.

Waste Volume

The Waste volume result shows the additional concrete added by your selected waste percentage.

For example, if the measured volume is 2 cubic yards and the waste allowance is 10%, the calculator adds 0.2 cubic yards. The suggested order becomes 2.2 cubic yards.

Approximate Weight

The Approximate weight result is based on a normal-weight concrete density of 2,320 kilograms per cubic meter.

The calculator displays weight in pounds when Imperial / US units are selected and kilograms when Metric units are selected.
